CareerBuilder.com has been used by various organizations and staffing agencies for a range of purposes. One staffing agency owner utilized the platform to find talent for their clients, but unfortunately did not receive the expected number of applicants. Similarly, a different company aimed to increase their application flow and find employees for office positions, but faced challenges in achieving their recruitment goals. However, CareerBuilder.com was also used by hiring departments and recruiting teams to advertise open positions and attract potential candidates. It has been employed across organizations as a versatile tool for employment advertising, job posting, and creating talent networks for passive candidates. In addition, CareerBuilder.com has proven beneficial in sourcing potential candidates that are not found in other major job databases, providing valuable additional options for recruiters. While some users have reported drawbacks such as resume quality and unresponsive account management, others have found value in using CareerBuilder.com to gather market data for compensation expectations and candidate availability. Overall, the platform has been utilized by diverse users for resume sourcing throughout the United States and has played a strategic role in reaching out to potential hires for hard-to-fill positions. Despite mixed experiences with the platform's effectiveness in delivering qualified candidates, it has provided an additional resource for locating talent.

Easy Candidate Search: Many users have found the candidate search system to be easy to use, suggesting that it has a user-friendly interface and intuitive navigation. They appreciate how it simplifies the process of finding potential candidates by providing a seamless experience with clear instructions and straightforward steps.

Wide Reach of Candidates: Several reviewers mentioned that the system allows them to access a wide range of candidates across the USA, indicating its extensive reach. This broad coverage increases the chances of finding suitable candidates from various locations, which is especially valuable for companies with multiple branches or remote work opportunities.

Efficient Resume Search Tool: The resume search tool was highly appreciated by users for its efficiency in filtering and finding relevant resumes. It streamlines the recruitment process by allowing recruiters to easily narrow down their search based on specific criteria such as skills, experience, and qualifications. This saves time and effort in reviewing an overwhelming number of resumes manually.

Cons: Service Issues: Some users have reported experiencing issues with the company's services not being rendered. They have repeatedly requested that these issues be addressed and fixed to ensure a smoother user experience. Unhelpful Customer Service: Users have expressed dissatisfaction with the unhelpful and non-responsive nature of the customer service provided by the company. They often struggle to receive timely assistance and resolution for their concerns, leading to frustration and inconvenience. Difficulty in Navigating: The user experience with the company's services has consistently been described as awful due to its challenging and confusing navigation. Users find it difficult to navigate through the platform, hindering their ability to effectively utilize its features and impacting overall satisfaction.

I decided to compare recruiting platforms and the successes found within the different options. After two weeks, I realized I was wasting my time and money for the return that was promised to me by the sales team, and the on boarding team waited 3-5 days(weekend)to contact me with a reasonable schedule. At first it seem too good to be true, but CareerBuilder.com turned out to be a waste of time and money. I shut down all of my ads immediately. Told Derek to close my account. Derek was a little, indignant and combative, but the honest to God‘s truth is you will not get your money worth your investment return, no matter what these people say. And they want to hijack you for a year contract when CareerBuilder.com is a deadbeat platform. Derek explained a normal turnaround time to get a good qualified worker is 60 days. My turnaround time is 3 to 7 days. I would go out of business working with CareerBuilder.com. I couldn’t run fast enough.
  • They talk a good game
  • They convince you, they can provide you with your needs
  • More than seven applicants to apply in a days time.
  • Honesty taken more seriously
  • Integrity taken more seriously
  • Dissatisfied Customers’ taken more seriously.
The on boarding training did not begin for three days, after deciding I would like to give them a shot. CareerBuilder.com is well-suited for companies that are not in a hurry to fill their job orders.

I commissioned CareerBuilder.com to assist me with recruiting efforts as I am the owner and operator of a staffing agency. CareerBuilder.com assured me that by using their platform, I would undoubtedly find the talent my clients needed! CareerBuilder.com gave me and my staff thorough training to ensure everyone knew how to operate the platform to receive optimal results. After 2 months of posting/advertising positions on CareerBuilder.com and not receiving the applicants as promised, I reached out to the CareerBuilder.com staff requesting help. The staff made subtle suggestions, which we implemented, but the results were the same, "zero candidates"! After multiple calls week after week, and 3 months with a zero yield on my return on investment, I requested to cancel my CareerBuilder.com subscription, as I felt at this point CareerBuilder.com was literally taking my money for nothing in return. In my experience, I was told by CareerBuilder.com that I was under a 1-year contract, and to opt out of the subscription, I would have to pay for the entire year $5K. In my experience, I asked CareerBuilder.com if they could release me from the contract since they could clearly see that they were not holding their end of the bargain, but they refused.
  • In my opinion, take your money for nothing in return
  • In my opinion, over promise and under deliver
  • In my opinion, deceive customers
  • In my opinion, hold you to the terms of their contract, but will not take accountability for lack of results produced
  • In my opinion, poor customer service
  • Fix customers issues
  • In my experience, stop taking money for services not rendered
  • In my opinion, hire staff who actually care about clients/customers
  • Fix problems when clients customers bring them to your attention
  • Allow month to month subscriptions like other platforms
  • In my experience, release customers from contacts when Career Builder can not deliver as promise.
If I could give them a zero, I would. In my experience, CareerBuilder.com literally took thousands of my hard-earned dollars ($5K) for NOTHING in return! You would think that since CareerBuilder.com could literally see that it was not producing the results promised, it would have considered releasing me from the contract or lowering the cost, in my opinion, but CareerBuilder.com made sure they collected every penny from me with zero consideration for customer satisfaction and failed to deliver the applicants. That told me everything I needed to know about CareerBuilder.com and how they really feel about customers. In my opinion, CareerBuilder.com primary focus is to get customers on the hook with a contract to legally guarantee they receive their money from you, but they can care less about the results their platform produces or customer satisfaction, “they just want your money”! I firmly believe CareerBuilder.com knows that their product does not work, hence the reason for the 1 yr contract is to basically guarantee company revenue for an entire year.
  • Job postings
  • Finding professionals with specific skill sets
  • I feel I literally gave away $5K to CareerBuilder.com with zero ROI.
  • In my opinion, CareerBuilder.com set me back financially because I had to pay another platform to do what CareerBuilder.com promised as I still needed to find qualified candidates for my clients.
  • I feel I wasted a lot of time, money, and energy with CareerBuilder.com
  • I feel CareerBuilder.com caused me and my staff months of mental frustration
CareerBuilder.com does not come close to measuring up to their competitors. I've been working with PandoLogic and Indeed since I still had to find qualified candidates for my clients and the difference in performance, quality of candidates, and customer service is like night and day! Those platforms outperform CareerBuilder.com on so many levels and actually deliver exactly as promised and their customer service is head and shoulders above CareerBuilder.com!

In my opinion, CareerBuilder.com was once a strong job board, but it is no longer. We contracted for a three-month integration that took one month for them to figure out how to make happen, yet they began charging us on day one. The resumes we received from them were not up to standard. We received thousands of resumes that were out of date, from out of the country, and unrelated to our jobs' qualifications. We found ourselves having to block the flow of what CareerBuilder.com was sending us. I tried diligently to work with our account manager but he ultimately ignored us. I escalated through management to legal only to be ignored by them too. If you're looking for a job board with a strong service mentality and good/active candidates I recommend you go elsewhere (ZipRecruiter or Indeed).
I feel there is nothing positive about this company.
  • Integration with ATS
  • Customer Service
  • Quantity and Quality of Applicants
  • From my experience, $18,000 went down the drain
  • No return on investment
  • I feel CareerBuilder.com created more work dealing with bad resumes than what it was worth
ZipRecruiter is far superior to CareerBuilder.com in every way. We were placing applicants in jobs within days of signing with ZR.

We subscribed to CareerBuilder's to help us locate senior level candidates for loan processing after not receiving very good results over indeed. It was clear with the first week the candidates were significantly less qualified, and I am sorry to say, fraudulent. There were multiple 'baristas' that applied in addition to wildly made up names with skills that were copy pasted from the internet (and even repeating the same list). I interviewed one gal and who was reading off her other screen. Loan Processing is a skilled position. This young lady had no idea what she was talking about. Zero. And she was one of the better applicants in terms of resume. I would have passed on leaving a negative review, except that I had checked the account not to auto-renew, and after what felt like a month the applicants kept coming in. I contacted their customer support for help and they were unwilling to rectify the billing. So I recommend you steer clear of CareerBuilders on multiple fronts. I could copy/paste a list of applicant names - you would be astonished at all the fraudulent antics. An interspersed use of ALL CAPS with foreign sounding names (clearly fictitious, not the real names of foreign people) and people who have neglected to capitalize their own last name? This does not happen. I've been searching talent bases a long time and never seen such a blatant example of automation trying to look like people. I guess they don't have enough real applicants to justify their fee, and are now willing to grab money where they can. Perhaps at some point they had quality applicants. Not so today.
  • Nothing was done well, I am sorry.
  • Applicant Quality
  • Policy
  • Service
I wouldn't give them a zero, one yes - but zero no. They were polite when I cancelled the account.
  • Cost approx. $450 for two months of service
  • Wasted time sorting unsuited applicants
  • No return on investment
Indeed seems to be having some similar issues which is why I tried Careerbuilders. However Careerbuilders was even lower quality despite their marketing that suggests they have more qualified applicants.

Our organization uses CareerBuilder.com to source potential candidates for our clients' open job requisitions. CareerBuilder is one of a handful of resources we currently use for this function. It provides additional candidates and applicants that may not be found on some of the other major job/resume databases. The functionality allows our firm to communicate, create lists folders, and share candidates internally.
  • Advanced keyword and Boolean search options
  • Sourcing and identifying candidates by geographical location
  • Contacting potential candidates directly through the CareerBuilder platform
  • Creating original and generic email and job posting templates
  • Functionality can be more user-friendly for beginners.
  • More options to integrate with other platforms and Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Make it easier to create candidate lists, and send mass emails--while this feature is available, CareerBuilder.com does not make it easy for users to perform these tasks.
  • Add an option for the user to be notified when candidates in saved folders have removed their resume or are no longer available.
CareerBuilder.com is well suited for mid-level and lower-level recruitment. I have noticed that it does not target/attract the C-level or executive-level candidates. Therefore, it is not always resourceful when working on higher-level searches. I have also noticed there are many duplicate resumes that come up on searches, which can create some frustration during the sourcing process.
  • I would say our organization's ROI with CareerBuilder.com is about break-even. We have not seen a substantial increase in productivity as seen with some of the other products in this category.
  • Good source for reaching a larger candidate pool in a variety of specialty trades and geographical areas.
  • Has hit the mark for finding the right candidates to fill lower-level and mid-level positions.
CareerBuilder.com is a different animal than LinkedIn Jobs. LinkedIn pulls candidates who are passive, whereas CareerBuilder.com targets more active candidates in the market. LinkedIn has served as a much more viable resource for sourcing higher level candidates, who are not typically found on such resume listing sites as CareerBuilder.com. LinkedIn Jobs also has more flexible options in terms of pricing.
I have had a positive experience with CareerBuilder's support. When the platform has been updated throughout the years, CareerBuilder's account managers have always provided our team with helpful live tutorials and demonstrations to help familiarize our users with new and upcoming features, as well as older features that will no longer be offered. Support team makes themselves available on an ongoing basis.
